1Policy Overview

This Cancellation and Refund Policy governs all flight bookings made through Traviflight®, an affiliate of Bookmyairtravel LLC, an ARC-authorized travel agency (ARC #21612953) based in Baltimore, Maryland.

Important Understanding

As an authorized travel agent, Traviflight® facilitates bookings between you and airlines. Cancellation and refund policies are primarily determined by the airline's fare rules for your specific ticket. We process cancellations and refunds in accordance with these rules and applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Flight Data Technology

Our flight search and booking services are powered by the Duffel API. Cancellation requests and fare rules are retrieved through this technology platform. While we use Duffel to access airline inventory and booking capabilities, final cancellation and refund decisions are subject to each airline's specific policies and fare conditions.

Two Types of Fees Apply

When you cancel or change a booking, two types of fees may apply: (1) Airline fees and penalties as determined by your fare rules, and (2) Traviflight® service fees for processing your request. Both are detailed in this policy.

224-Hour Cancellation Policy (DOT Regulation)

In accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, you have the right to cancel your flight booking within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund, provided:

Requirements for 24-Hour Cancellation

  • • Booking was made at least 7 days before departure
  • • Cancellation request is made within 24 hours of booking
  • • Flight is to, from, or within the United States
  • • Original booking was made through Traviflight®

Refund for 24-Hour Cancellation

  • • Full ticket price refunded
  • • All taxes and fees refunded
  • • Traviflight® service fee refunded
  • • Refund processed within 7 business days

3Fare Types & Flexibility

Airlines offer different fare types with varying levels of flexibility. Your cancellation and change options depend on the fare type you purchased:

Fully Refundable Fares

Premium tickets offering maximum flexibility. Cancel anytime for a full refund without airline penalties.

Mid-range tickets allowing changes and cancellations with moderate fees. Often provide airline credit for future travel.

4Cancellation Fees

When you cancel a booking (after the 24-hour grace period), the following fees may apply:

Non-Refundable Tickets

For non-refundable tickets, you may still cancel and receive an airline credit (minus applicable fees) for future travel, depending on airline policy. This credit typically must be used within 12 months of the original booking date and may have restrictions on use.

5Change & Modification Fees

If you need to change your flight date, time, or destination, the following fees apply:

Fare Difference

If your new flight has a higher fare than your original booking, you must pay the fare difference. If the new fare is lower, refunds of the difference depend on airline policy - most airlines do not refund the difference on changes.

Name Changes

Most airlines do not allow name changes on tickets. Minor spelling corrections may be permitted for an additional fee. Name transfers to a different person are generally not allowed. Tickets are non-transferable unless explicitly stated in the fare rules.

7Refund Process & Timeline

When you are eligible for a refund, here is what to expect:

We verify your fare rules, process the cancellation with the airline, and calculate applicable refunds.

You receive an email confirming the cancellation and detailing the refund amount (if applicable).

8Airline-Initiated Changes & Cancellations

When an airline significantly changes or cancels your flight, you have enhanced rights:

Significant Schedule Changes

If the airline changes your flight by more than 2 hours, you may be entitled to:

  • Full refund without penalties
  • Rebooking on an alternative flight at no extra cost
  • Traviflight® service fee refund (for airline-initiated cancellations)

Airline-Cancelled Flights

If your flight is cancelled by the airline, you are entitled to a full refund including all taxes and fees. We will assist you in obtaining your refund or rebooking on alternative flights.

9Special Circumstances & Exceptions

Force Majeure Events

During extraordinary circumstances (natural disasters, pandemics, political unrest, etc.), airlines may offer enhanced flexibility. We will guide you through available options and work directly with airlines to secure the best possible outcome.

Medical Emergencies

Some airlines offer compassionate refund policies for documented medical emergencies or family crises. Supporting documentation (doctor's notes, death certificates) is typically required. Final decisions rest with individual airlines.

Military Orders

Active military personnel with official orders may be eligible for special cancellation policies with some airlines. Documentation of military orders is required.

10No-Show Policy

Important: Avoid No-Shows

If you do not show up for your flight without prior cancellation ("no-show"), you will typically forfeit the entire ticket value with no refund. Additionally:

  • All subsequent flights on your itinerary will be automatically cancelled
  • No refund or credit will be provided for no-shows
  • Taxes may be the only recoverable portion

We strongly recommend contacting us to cancel your booking before departure if you cannot travel. Even non-refundable tickets may offer partial credit when properly cancelled.

11Travel Insurance Recommendation

We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance to protect your travel investment. Travel insurance can provide coverage for situations not covered by airline refund policies:
